There is an art to requesting a wishing well gift from your wedding guests.
It is extremely important that guests not feel offended by your request
and that you word your request in a way that is a suggestion for a gift idea that
guests may or may not wish to partake.
Including a wishing well card with your invitations is a nice way of explaining
the wishing well concept to your guests.
We have included a number of different wishing well verses to include with your invitations,
or you may choose to write your own poem to suit.
You may like to mix and match the lines in these verses
to come up with your own personal poem -
it's about finding a poem that suits your style and personality
and that you feel comfortable using.
These wishing well notes can be printed onto card
to match your invitations.

The Wising Well
More than just kisses so far we’ve shared,
Our home has been made with love and care,
Most things we need we’ve already got,
And in our home we can’t fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate)
A gift of money is place in he well,
Then make a wish… but do not tell!
Bring a Photo
Here is a simple and easy request,
To be followed by each and every guest.
We’re beginning our life together at last,
So please help to build our book of the past.
Find a photo of our once shared times,
To place in the registry along with some rhymes. And as we embark into the future with pleasure, We’ll have our book of memories to treasure.
2.
Wishing Well
Our Home is quite complete now, we’ve been together long, So please consider our request and do not take us wrong. A delicate request it is, we hope you understand. Please play along as it will give our married life a hand.
The tradition of the wishing well is one that’s known by all. Go to the well, toss in a coin and careful as you do. ‘Cause as the well’s tradition goes your wishes will come true.
So on this special day of ours, the day we’ll be wed, Don’t hunt for special gifts but give money in its stead. And as you do, drop the envelope with money
great or small,
Remember, make your wish as you watch
your money fall.
3.
The Wishing Well
In our house we have the things
That living together normally brings
Most household items we’ve already bought
And because of this reason we thought
A wishing well would be great
(Only if you wish to participate)
A gift of money is placed in an envelope
So in the future we can hope
To furnish our home to it’s very best
And always remember it was due to our guests.
4.
Wishing Well
We hope you can join us,
on this our Wedding Day.
To celebrate our union,
in a very special way.
Our wish is quite different,
and a little hard to tell.
Instead of shopping for a present,
why not bless our “Wishing Well”.
If you’d rather shop,
it’s still alright by us.
We just thought by giving you this option,
it would save you a lot of fuss.
5.
Wishing Well
Over the years, we have collected
Most of the things, with a house connected
Cutlery and crockery, by the score
And of towels, we need no more.
But if you wish, a little help would be great
With some special things, more ornate.
A wishing well, at our reception will be kept
Your gracious gift, to accept.
So if you like, no need to shop,

The Wishing Well
More than just kisses so far we’ve shared,
Our home has been made with love and care,
Most things we need we’ve already got,
And in our home we can’t fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great
(but only if you wish to participate!)
Just pop your blessing in the envelope to
place within the well
Then make a wish…… .. But do not tell!
7.
Now we are to be Mr. & Mrs.
We don't need a wedding list of dishes
We have two kettles, two toasters, a microwave
We require a house for which we have to save.
If you would like to give us a monetary gift
this would give us a lift
We like to think of it as our "Wishing Well"
Which will be filled with your love, we can tell.
8.
Our home is quite complete now,
we've been together long,
so please consider our request
and do not take us wrong.
A delicate request it is,
we hope you understand.
Please play along as it will give
our married life a hand.

and our home has been made with love and care,
Most things we need we’ve already got,
and in our house we can’t fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(but only if you wish to participate!)
A gift of money is placed in the well,
then make a wish...but do not tell!
Once we’ve replaced the old with brand new,
we can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness we’re sure,
that one day soon you’ll get what you wished for!
10.
The Wishing Well
Because at first we lived in sin,
we've got the sheets and a rubbish bin.
A gift from you would be swell,
but we'd prefer a donation to our Wishing Well!!
We’re sending out this invitation,
and hope you will join our celebration.
If to send a gift is your intention,
in modesty we would like to mention.
We have already got a kettle and a toaster,
crockery, dinner mats and coasters.
So rather than something we have already got,
please give us money for our saving pot.
But, most importantly, we request,
that you turn up as our wedding guest!
11.
"We've been together a few years now;
we have pots and pans and linen and towels;
we have glasses and toasters,
really quite a few;
so instead of more gifts, we suggest this to you;
if it doesn't offend and it
won't send you running;
what we would really appreciate is
quite simply money;
we know choosing gifts can be such a pain;
and this way there is no chance
of bringing the same."
12.
Wishing Well
Soon you will hear our wedding bells,
As Friends and family wish us well.
Our household possessions are not brand new,
We have twice the things we need for two.
Since we have our share
of dishes and bedding,
We're having instead a wishing well wedding.
But more important we ask of you,
your prayers of love and blessings too!
13.
We'd love to have you with us when all our
dreams come true. But at the risk of being bold
we ask one thing of you. We're both a trifle
more mature than most who tie the knot
And consequently have most things younger
folk do not. We're on our way to <insert destination>
for our honeymoon.
A holiday for us to share that hasn't come too soon.
So if you're thinking of a gift and
don't know what to get.
A gift of cash would help us most and get us on that jet.
But most of all we'd love you there on our special date.
To share with us our happiness and help us celebrate.
14.
They have their dishes and towels for two
They have pots and pans and oven mitts too
So what do you get for the Bride & Groom
Whose house is setup in every room?
Their house needs repairs and some upgrades too But you can’t register for carpet and glue.
A well that holds wishes is the way to go
So lets make it easy for all that know.
An envelope will be provided for those who have room, To give a monetary wish to the Bride and Groom A wishing well will be on display at the reception hall To attach your wishes, for the couple, with love from all.
15.
Our worldly possessions are
plentiful as such,
On our wedding present list
there really isn't much,
A gift of currency is all we ask,
To help us on our life long task.
16.
For a long time we have lived in sin
We have all the stuff even a rubbish bin
A gift from you would be just swell
Or perhaps a donation to our Wishing Well
Don't go overboard or rob any banks
Just a small donation & we'll say "thanks"
So come to our wedding & party away
Help us to make this a wonderful day.
17.
If choosing a gift you dread,
then place a note in here instead.
How much to give I hear you say,
any amount will be ok.
At the wedding we will provide,
a wishing well to place your gift inside.
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish... but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you! And in return for your kindness, We're sure That one day soon you will get what you wished for.

Wishing Well
To save you looking, shopping or buying.
Here is an idea, we hope you like trying.
Come to our wedding, to wish us both well.
And bring this small sack, to throw in our wishing well. Fill it with paper all colours will do,
gold is our favourite but silver will do.
Now that we have saved you, all of that fuss.
We hope you will come, and celebrate with us.
19.
This wishing well is here today for family and friends. Take an envelope, make a wish and please drop it in.
As it falls into the well your wish,
for the couple, will come true.
A token for the couple, to help them begin,
will be welcomed, too.
Please take the time to make a wish
before the day is through.
20.
"If you were thinking of giving a gift,
to help us on our way.
A gift of cash towards our house,
would really make our day.
However, if you prefer to purchase a gift,
feel free to surprise us in your own special way."
21.
To save you looking, shopping and buying,
Here is an idea we hope you'll like trying!
Come to our wedding to wish us both well,
And make some use of our little wishing well.
Just put some money into a card,
Now make a wish.... See, that wasn't hard!
Now that we have saved you all of the fuss,
We hope that you will come and celebrate with us!
22.
So what do you get for the Bride and Groom,
Whose house needs things In every room?
When shopping for a present please, don’t be rash , As the option is there to just give cash!
We hope that you don’t find our request to be funny , But the decision is yours to buy a present, or give money Now you have the choice please do not fuss , The most important thing of all, Is that you come and celebrate with us!
23.
"We really would appreciate a little money of our own, instead of a little gift for our new home!" We know you want to find something nice But it's such a hassle to find the right price
So come and enjoy the day all sunny
We really would appreciate a little money.
24.
Your presence at our wedding is present enough,. So don’t worry about what to buy, as we have plenty of stuff! However, if you were thinking of giving a gift to help us on our way,
A gift of money towards our own home
Would really make our day.
25.
White goods we have, linen we always use.
So.. What to give to whom that has all.
To make it an ease
a wishing well is what we please
To help us on our special day,
but the choice is yours ..be as it may.
26.
Your presence at our wedding ispresent enough! But if we're honoured with a gift from you, May we respectfully request a gift of money To help the building of our dream home come true!
27.
Whilst in a foreign land,
(Brides Name) had many adventures grand,
None of which could ever compare,
To the wonderful love
That she and (Grooms Name) share.
The couple will marry whilst traveling once more, And her family shall come to foreign shore. (Bride) and (Groom) have considered the options, as guests bearing gifts, will come to considerable exertions. And the airline restrictions will also apply, to the bride and the groom when home they must fly.
In the place of a gift with traditional style,
a paper gift would bring many a smile.
gift of paper has many a meaning,
it may be cash, or a voucher for their favourite store, the promise of a special favour,
When the couple return to settle into their lives
as husband and wife. Many thanks for your consideration, in receiving this request, as surely you will realise It's definitely for the best.
We hope that you will join us,
on this our special day, To celebrate our union
in a very special way.
28.
Because we haven’t lived in sin
and don’t have a house to put gifts in.
Warranties and vouchers run out of date
and it might be a while before we cohabitate.
So to save from presents gathering dust
We were hoping to start an engagement trust.
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish .... but shhh don't tell!
So when the time comes for us to move in
We’ll be able to afford the
toaster and rubbish bin.
And the things that we’ll have all shiny and new
We can look back and say it was all thanks to you!
